SIEMENS’ SICAM (Substation Integration Control Automation Monitoring) product line offers amazingly flexible industrial controllers specially created for energy automation projects. The configuration toolchain, our beloved SICAM TOOLBOX II, contains all the tools needed for the engineering and programming tasks, moreover offers handy instruments for the diagnosis and troubleshooting of the automation units.
Especially in the commissioning phase, switching rapidly between the different tools is needed: checking a parameter in OPM, correcting the control logic in CAEx Plus, loading the new parameters, transmitting simulation telegrams etc. Of course, one can start the needed tools using the shortcuts from the TOOLBOX folder, but there is another method, which not only shortens the time in which the needed tool is found and opened, but also confers the engineer a feeling of being even more professional.
When installing TOOLBOX II, its folders are registered in Windows’ environment variable Path. This allows, that the TOOLBOX programs can be simply started by typing the name of their executable files into a command prompt window.
The following commands can be used (without being exhaustive):

Some updates…
emgtbk (only the prelodader restarts)
emgtbk nothing (nothing gets restarted / quitting all TBII programs)
emgtbk startdbl (calls zdbstl.exe / local database gets started)
emgtbk stopdbl (calls zdbspl.exe / local database gets stopped)
emgtbk restart (all killed .exe files gets restarted / quitting all TBII programs)
-all (kills in all sessions, terminalserver only)
-exclude=opm.exe,ddc.exe,vtb.exe (exclude name processes…)
result (0=no error occured, 1=an error occured, -1=printed usage)
I have installed the toolbox 6.0 on a virtual machine windows 7. Unfortunately the preloader not start. Any suggestions?
Hi. Did the installation work correctly?
Check your Services in Windows. OracleServiceTBII, OracleOraDB12Home1TNSListener and ORacleVssWriterTBII should be Running. If not, try to start them manually, and try launching TOOLBOX .

My windows get updated and now my toolbox 2 is not opening.it is showing as “could not connect to the database error number.% 1!

I am trying to open CAEX plus for the first time. I have plugged in the dongle and it installed the drivers for the dongle successfully. On trying to open the CAEX plus from OPMII, it is failing to open and it gives me the error “CAEX plus project management could not be installed”. How can I resolve that problem?

We bought a Sicam 1703 Baycontroller and we needed to download the software because of training purposes of our own staff and some customers of ours.
After installing i run into a problem, the software is requesting for a “Activation key” for ToolboxII V6.00.
Is there a free trail activation key?
Or where can i order an activation key?
Hi. As far as I know, there is no trial version. You have to buy the license. I can only advise you to contact your local Siemens supplier.
